Why You Need to Stop Eating Junk Food
It’s midnight, you’re in bed mindlessly scrolling through your phone when the cravings suddenly hit you…
You may contemplate for a second on what to eat but ultimately, you find yourself reaching for your favorite chips or dessert. Does this sound familiar?
I don’t blame you. These foods are designed to get you hooked, making it hard to eat healthier, and even harder to lose weight. Plus, it’s quick to munch on, satisfies your craving for a sweet or salty snack, and most of all, you can get it everywhere. Truly, how convenient is that?
But if you’ve been telling yourself that you’ll FINALLY quit, but haven’t gotten to it yet, here are more reasons why you need to stop eating junk food:
Additives
How many of you actually read the ingredients list at the back of a food’s packaging? Have you ever questioned what they put in these burgers that make them taste so good? I bet not.
Most of them contain high amounts of fat, hidden sugars, salt, artificial sweeteners, MSG’s, preservatives, and synthetic dyes.
Still not enough chemicals for you?
These ingredients not only wreak havoc on your waistline, but they also cause so much damage to your health.
No Nutritional Value
Companies in the industry sure know how to market their products, but don’t fall for it!
They label their products with things such as “gluten-free” or “no added artificial sugars” to make them appear healthier, but the truth is that it still contains the same amount of sugar, if not more!
If you compare a handful of cereal to a handful of fruits, they may seem as though they will serve you with the same nutrients, but they don’t.
There is little to none of the vitamins and minerals that you need in junk foods and too much unnecessary sugar and salt that will just add inches to your waistline.
Snatched Waistline, No More
The physique that you’ve been working so hard on will all go to waste if you let yourself ride the bandwagon of eating junk foods!
One of the leading causes of weight gain and even obesity is the consumption of these foods.
That’s because processed meals and snacks have exceeding levels of sugars, fats, and carbs with low satiety value, meaning it is not very filling and it leads you to want to eat more to satisfy your hunger.
In other words, when you fall into the trap of ingesting these types of food instead of whole foods, you are engaging yourself in a vicious cycle of always being hungry and never satisfied. The result? You eat EVEN more junk food!
If you don’t get out of this cycle, you might as well say goodbye to your fitness goals.
Pending Hospital Bills
You are what you eat, and if you continue to eat junk foods in huge amounts, you may, later on, find yourself in a hospital.
The list of possibilities of what you can get is almost as long as the variety of junk foods available to you.
There is the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, threatening cardiovascular conditions such as stroke and atherosclerosis, digestive issues, depression, cancer, and early death.
If you ever make the conscious decision to carry on with this lifestyle, make sure you have health insurance.

Junk Food is an Addiction
Chips and candy are made by companies to target your brain’s “bliss point specifically,” This is a point where you can feel the ultimate pleasure brought by the combination of not too much and not too little salty, sweet, and fatty flavors.
This is why it makes them so hard to resist! IF you even try to stop, you end up feeling withdrawal symptoms! Get ahead of this habit and don’t let it gain control over you.
The temptation to give in to junk foods is really hard, especially when they are all around you but, there are still ways on how you can satisfy your cravings while still being in control of how much you can eat of it.
