Healthy French Toast Breakfast Recipe
If you know me, you know how much I love breakfast. I mean it’s my favorite meal of the day, I even have it sometimes for dinner.
Before we proceed, let me hit you with the disclaimer that cooking isn’t one of my favourite things to do. As a matter of fact, it’s one of my least favourite things to do. I like to call it one of those necessary evils 🙂
If I could order out or pick up and still have my abs, you best believe I would, but no such luck.
Last Sunday I woke up craving some French Toasts which was somewhat peculiar, so I decided to whip some up using some ingredients in my house.
French toast has traditionally been loaded with sugar in the mixture then on the toppings, but you know that wasn’t about to be the case with mine.
I made some healthy swaps to keep it healthy and yummy that was too good a d quick not to share. Here is my healthy French toast breakfast recipe, rich in protein to kickstart your day.
Healthy French Toast
INGREDIENTS (1 serving):
- 1 scoop Herballife Nutrition Protein Powder
- 2 slices Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Bread
- 1/2 cup Egg Whites
- 1/8 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1tsp Coconut Oil
- 1 Cup Strawberries
- 1 tsp Honey
DIRECTION:
- Heat skillet on medium heat and add coconut oil.
- In a bowl, combine egg whites, cinnamon, and protein powder. Dip two slices of bread into the mixture.
- Cook each side for 2-3 minutes.
- Slice strawberries, then add them on top of the bread, add some cinnamon and drizzle with honey.
There you go, a nice breakfast with a healthy twist that took less than 20 minutes including preparation time.
