3 Simple Exercises To Get Your Sexy Back

Justin Timberlake said it best when he got us singing along to “Sexy Back”, because few things look hotter than a great outfit displaying a firmly toned back. We all want to enjoy the weddings, picnics and barbecues throughout the summer knowing that no matter how we may show up in pictures, the camera will catch us at our best.

Unfortunately, a sexy back doesn’t just happen. You’ll need to include focused exercises to tone your back muscles in order to make sure you don’t have “anything extra” behind you. Here are three of my favorite exercises that focus on the back muscles to help me bring my sexy back wherever I go.

Lat Pulldown
You’ll need a pulldown weight machine for this one.

Set-Up: Hold the bar a little wider than shoulder width apart, with palms facing away from you. Then sit down in the machine and secure your knees underneath the pad. Sit up tall and draw your shoulder blades down and back.

Action: Drive your elbows down and pull the bar into your upper chest, but do not hit your chest, squeezing your shoulder blades together throughout the movement. Pause for one to two counts briefly then slowly return to the start position. Do 3 sets of 12-15 reps.

Lat-Pulldown
One Arm Dumbbell Row

Set-Up: Place one knee and the same side hand on a flat bench. Hold a dumbbell in your other hand with your palm facing inward. Flatten your back and extend your arm straight toward the floor.

Action: Drive your elbow to the wall behind you, while keeping your arm in and close to your side. Pause for a moment at the top for two counts, then slowly lower back to the start. Do all reps on one side then switch. Do 3 sets of 12-15 reps.

Bent Over Dumbbell Row

Set-Up: Stand holding a set of dumbbells with an underhand grip in front of your thighs, and your knees slightly bent. Fold forward from the waist with your back straight until your torso makes a 45-degree angle. Your arms should be perpendicular to the floor.

Action: Maintain your body angle as you drive your elbows up and back and pull the dumbbells into your abdomen. Hold for a count of two then lower again. Do 3 sets of 12-15 reps.

Incorporating these few exercises into your routine will get your back ready to show off in any backless dress or your favorite bikini. The best part is – you can party with confidence knowing that you look great from each and every angle. So work those lats and sing along with Justin anytime, anywhere, because you have your sexy back!
